Officially called Xieng Khuan, this public park is packed with a weird mix of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures.

The magical Mekong River runs through the quiet town of Luang Prabang in northern Laos. Backed by magnificent mountain scenery, the river is the centre of village life.

Luang Prabang has approximately 80 monasteries with 1200 monks making up 10% of the total population. Early every morning, the monks go on an alms-round and receive rice from many devotees. An interesting report from Mirjam Letsch.

This religious festival takes place over 3 days and has a lot of photographic potential. There is a parade, a candlelit procession and thousands of monks from all over Laos to be seen.
