ABOUT THE LOCATION
|
|
Riomaggiore is one of the famous Cinque Terre on Italy’s west coast, a group of 5 picturesque, car-free villages, backed by a unique terraced landscape of vines, which are part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Set by the sea, Riomaggiore has one winding main street, surrounded on both sides by banks of pastel coloured houses, and ending with a ramp to the sea. Its houses cling to the cliffs and appear to be almost built on top of one another. Much of the time the village street is lined with brightly coloured fishing boats which have been brought out of the sea for safe storage. Shots of the stacked houses can be taken from both sides near the seafront, and views over Riomaggiore to the sea can be gained from high paths and the road to the village. |
