ABOUT THE LOCATION

|
Llanrhaeadr Waterfall (Pistyll Rhaeadr) is regarded as one of the seven Wonders of Wales. At 75 metres it has one of the single highest waterfall drops in Wales and is over 18 metres higher than Niagara Falls in North America. Located in the scenic Tanat Valley, the nearby village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant is well known as the place where Bishop Morgan completed the first Welsh translation of the Bible. The river that tumbles over the falls originates in the heather moorlands of the Berwyn mountains, and the peat gives a rich brown colour to the waterfall which has been designated as a Site of Special Scientic Interest. The falls have an arch half way down their drop and, in all seasons, spectacular photos can be taken of the waterfall and the surrounding area. |
